Review Summary

Our Final Verdict

We give Hungry Bark food a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Hungry Bark is a dog food company that creates custom nutrition plans with superfood ingredients based on your dog’s unique needs,1 so they live longer and you can enjoy more time together. It is manufactured in the USA of mostly locally-sourced ingredients. It is known for its wide variety of healthy ingredients and personalized meal plans for each specific dog. Overall, Hungry Bark dog food is a high-quality food that is vet-approved and safe to feed to your furry friend. Let’s discuss some of the reasons why Hungry Bark dog food has been growing in popularity.

A few years ago, the founder of Hungry Bark, Nick Molina, met with a certified nutritionist to come up with a custom nutrition plan for himself. When he realized how quickly he saw results, it got him thinking. He decided that if the nutrition plan worked so well for him, maybe he should do the same for his two rescue dogs. He began researching and consulting with pet nutritionists and vets so that he could begin making custom diets for his dogs, as well as others.

Additionally, Hungry Bark has pledged to match 100% of donations with their Round Up for Pups charity initiative.

Our final verdict on Hungry Bark dog food is that it is an excellent quality dog food with a plethora of unique ingredients. Though a bit pricey, their recipes are customized, which would benefit to have a few more options to choose from.

Discussion of the Primary Ingredients (Good and Bad)

    Primary Proteins

When choosing your dog’s customized Hungry Bark meal plan, there are five primary proteins to choose from, which are combined into four different dry kibble recipes.

    Chicken

Chicken is an excellent source of protein and omega-6 fatty acids, which help sustain healthy skin and shiny coats, as well as glucosamine, which helps promote bone health. However, keep in mind that some dogs are allergic to chicken.

    Duck

Duck is rich in iron, an easy-to-digest protein source, and a great source of amino acids. It is sometimes recommended for dogs with food sensitivities or food allergies. The downside to duck is that it is expensive, and may be difficult to find.

    Lamb

Lamb is an excellent source of iron, B vitamins, and linoleic acid. It is packed with essential amino acids, and is a good source of dietary fats, which help to sustain energy.

    Salmon

Salmon is a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which have anti-inflammatory properties that may lower the risk of heart disease, cancer, and arthritis in dogs. These good fats help with skin conditions, allergies, and kidney function. Fish oil also supports healthy skin and coats, vision development, and cognitive function.

    Turkey

Turkey helps build muscle, is a highly digestible protein source. It is an alternative option for dogs with sensitivities or allergies to beef or chicken-based recipes. For a comprehensive list of nutritious all-natural ingredients, check here.
